NTX/OK/AR Water Business Development Manager (192978)

HDR is seeking an action‑oriented, client‑facing leader to manage business development for the North Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas markets. The role is responsible for leading marketing and business development activities to meet Net Fee Booked goals while positioning the Water Business Group for year‑over‑year growth across Drinking Water, Wastewater, Water Resources Management, and Federal Water sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with program and operations leadership to develop and implement an annual growth plan with tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze and qualify potential clients that align with professional and financial value to the firm.
  • Monitor new market trends and contribute to area tactical and strategic planning.
  • Identify and leverage contacts to build relationships with targeted clients.
  • Collaborate with business group and sector leaders, client service managers, senior consultants, project leadership, and other expertise to pursue new opportunities.
  • Represent HDR at industry conferences, seminars, and professional associations to develop business contacts.
  • Maintain client relationships and, when required, serve as Project Principal or client‑facing Project Manager for key clients.
  • Identify and develop potential projects; collaborate with national and local resources to create and submit proposals that result in shortlisting and selection.
  • Work with marketing services staff to develop qualifications, proposals, interview presentations, specialty brochures, and other marketing materials.
  • Mentor marketing staff, client service managers, and pursuit leaders on persuasive marketing deliverables and client‑centered presentations.
  • Implement company marketing policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), professional, or related field.
  • Professional engineering registration in Texas is strongly preferred, or similar technical credentials/experience.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with program development, pursuit management, and client relationship development in the water consulting industry.
  • Proven business development success in the water consulting industry.
  • Existing network of clients and teaming partners in Texas is preferred.
  • Experience in developing and managing diverse teams.
  • Commitment to HDR’s core values of quality work and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated "self‑starter" with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
  • Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a network of clients and industry partners.
  • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in person.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff.
