Black & Veatch is seeking a results‑driven Sales / Business Development Leader to expand our presence in the public agencies and utilities market, with a focus on the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area, and surrounding municipalities and utilities.
This role will lead new business growth, strategic account management, and business capture efforts across key clients. You will work across multiple business lines to deliver integrated solutions spanning water, energy, transit, communications, and collaborative delivery.
This is a quota‑carrying role with direct accountability for revenue growth, client relationships, and strategic market expansion.
Key Responsibilities- Drive new business development and sales across hyperscale, colocation, and developer clients
- Own and deliver an annual sales target with strong pipeline development (3–5× coverage)
- Develop and execute account strategies, capture plans, and go‑to‑market approaches
- Build and maintain relationships with executive‑level stakeholders across multiple strategic clients
- Lead complex pursuits, including positioning, teaming, and proposal strategy
- Collaborate across Black & Veatch to deliver integrated, enterprise solutions
- Maintain strong client engagement through project execution to drive repeat business
- Bachelor's degree required
- Relevant experience in business development, sales, or key account management
- Proven sales success with public agencies and utilities
- Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed multi‑million‑dollar sales quotas
- Experience preparing proposals, interview/marketing materials, and negotiating contracts for public agencies and utility clients
- Excellent communication, executive presence, and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment
- Prefer 15+ years of experience within the public utilities industry, including 5–10 years in sales or project execution
- Experience developing, maintaining and executing strategic sales plans
- History of successful pursuits with complex buying processes and multiple decision makers
- Firm understanding of competition and differentiators
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts concisely and clearly, and to convert technical or complex information and concepts into easily understandable content - Experience using Salesforce is preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
