Job SummaryAs a part of the Industrial Automation Solutions (IAS) team, the Drives Specialist is the technical and commercial leader for industrial drive and motion control solutions within CES. This role supports sales growth by providing expertise in the selection, application, programming, and commissioning of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), servo systems, and motor control solutions. Working closely with sales teams, customers, and key manufacturers, the Drives Specialist delivers high-value engineered solutions that differentiate CES.
This role is the primary technical expert on drive applications. Additionally, this person will provide technical training to all required staff and/or customers.
Essential Job Functions- Applies safe work practices for all work activities.
- Sizes and selects VFDs, servo drives, and motor control solutions based on customer needs.
- Provides expert guidance on installation, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the installation requirements and best practices for various applications.
- Supports startup and ensures optimal system performance.
- Partners with sales and support teams to develop, quote, and close opportunities.
- Drives revenue through engineered solutions and customer engagement.
- Educates internal teams and customers on drives and motion solutions.
- Builds strong partnerships with key manufacturers, OEMs, contractors, and end users.
- Makes joint sales calls with field sales staff in support of drive applications.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to obtain all necessary Siemens certifications (position-dependent).
- Serves as SME to customers, account managers, and branches for all Siemens industrial automation products.
- Educational background in electrical or mechanical engineering. Extensive experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Professional background in drive systems.
- Proficient in Siemens, Allen Bradley, Yaskawa, ABB, and related technologies.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to translate complex drive and motion control solutions into practical customer applications.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Customer focused with a consultative approach to problem solving.
- Self motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Collaborative team player who works well across sales, technical, and support functions.
