Description

Huitt-Zollars is seeking a full-time summer 2026 Safety Intern. The internship begins in May and ends in early August. The internship supports day‑to‑day health & safety‑focused tasks and responsibilities, including safety documentation, assisting with safety program updates, write‑ups, and compliance efforts regarding audits, reporting, and proper filing.

Chief People Officer/VP Human Resources

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with updating safety documents, policies, and training materials
  • Maintain safety training schedules and follow up on missing or incomplete records
  • Process safety paperwork including incident reports and compliance documentation
  • Support ongoing safety initiatives, audits, and regulatory requirements as needed
  • Help with any other HR‑related tasks as directed
Requirements
  • Ideally can start internship by May 18, 2026 – ending Aug 7, 2026
  • Current local (North Texas) student studying in an accredited safety (or equivalent) higher education program and seeking a future career in safety. Will consider non‑local safety intern candidates who are willing to locate on their own and report to our Dallas, TX office each week during the internship. No relocation or living assistance is provided.
  • Any relevant safety certifications such as OSHA 10 may be given greater preference during selection, but is not required
  • Must be available to work in the Dallas office Monday‑Friday 8am‑5pm, 40 hours per week during internship
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and be resourceful
  • Willingness to take on a variety of tasks, some of which may be heavily administrative in editing manuals or other record‑keeping activities related to safety
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times including moving and organizing files and file boxes
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
