Job Summary
As part of HDR’s Power sector, this Staff Archaeologist will conduct site testing and analyses for development projects, develop design recommendations, and produce deliverable documents. The role supports reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems while contributing to community and industry growth.
Responsibilities- Perform site testing and conduct analyses work on a variety of development projects involving archaeological resources, historic structures, tribal resources and excavations
- Provide technical expertise to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of service deliverable documents
- Perform routine scientific assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
- Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
- Work independently on small projects, or assist senior scientists on larger projects
- Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
- Travel as needed to North Texas offices and client project sites
- Perform other duties as needed
- Must be able to record cultural resources in the field without physical assistance, including hiking short distances in scrub and native vegetation
- Must lift up to 20 pounds without assistance
- Must communicate effectively in person, by telephone and email
- Must work in minimally supervised or unsupervised environments
- Work hours may include weekends and/or night shifts
- Must have a valid driver’s license and operate a vehicle day or night
- Approximately 66% travel required
- Master’s degree
- Previous work experience in cultural resource projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Self‑starter with excellent writing and communication skills
- Willingness to work under varied weather conditions
- Knowledge of field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities
- Committed to active participation in an employee‑owned culture
