Job Summary
UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking Police Cadets in Dallas, Texas. As a cadet, you will assist experienced officers, learn procedures, engage with the community, and prepare for full officer responsibilities. Cadets will be enrolled in the Texas Police Academy at no cost.

Starting salary for a Cadet is $71,935.
Education and ExperienceRequired
Education
High School Diploma or GED. Must attend and satisfactorily complete the Texas Police Academy, qualifying for commissioning as a peace officer of the University of Texas System Police within 15 calendar days of completing the basic Peace Officer Training Course.
Licenses and Certifications
Driver’s license and acceptable UT System Driver Rating.
- Attend classes and maintain comprehensive notebooks; complete homework assignments.
- Participate in physical training, firearms training, defensive tactics program, and practical problem scenarios; actively engage in classroom discussions and group projects.
- Comply with rules and regulations governing the Police Academy.
- Follow assignments and instructions from the Director of Police or Academy staff.
- Adhere to component institution policies regarding personal status and Academy attendance.
- Adhere to the University of Texas System Police Code of Conduct and regulations promulgated by the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System.
- Perform other related duties as required.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
