Job Summary
Public Safety Officer (PSO) – campus security and safety support at UT Southwestern. Starting salary $20.00 per hour with shift differentials for nights and weekends.

- 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
- 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM
- 10:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Patrol buildings and grounds on foot and by vehicle to check for fires, water leaks, hazards, and general security.
- Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, and request medical services as needed.
- Support crime prevention and safety mission on campus.
- Process found property and write reports.
- Provide security escort services as required.
- Respond to alarms and assist in testing emergency notification devices.
- Maintain traffic and crowd control for special events.
- Lock and unlock campus buildings and work areas.
- Deliver customer service to the community on public safety related matters.
- Assist police and fire personnel as needed.
- Participate in ongoing job‑related training and development.
- Provide on‑the‑job training to co‑workers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent (vocational school).
ExperienceNo experience required. Must pass a thorough background investigation, provide credible testimony in a court of law, and pass a negative drug screen.
Licenses and CertificationsValid driver’s license and eligibility to drive a university-owned or leased motor vehicle.
SecurityThis is a security‑sensitive position subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, authorizing criminal history record checks.
