Job SummaryUT Southwestern Medical Center is currently seeking Police Cadets to join our team in Dallas, Texas. As a police cadet, you will assist experienced police officers in various tasks, learn about police procedures and protocols, engage with the community, and prepare for the responsibilities of a full‑fledged police officer. You will be enrolled in the Texas Police Academy at no cost to advance your police career.

Cadet salary: $71,935. Additional benefits include shift differential pay, weekend and holiday pay, certification pay, uniforms, and dry cleaning.
Education and Experience- High School Diploma or GED
- Must attend and satisfactorily complete the Texas Police Academy and qualify for commissioning as a peace officer within 15 calendar days of completion of a basic Peace Officer Training Course.
- Valid Driver’s License and acceptable UT System Driver Rating.
- Attend classes and maintain comprehensive notebooks; complete homework assignments.
- Participate in physical training, firearms training, defensive tactics, and practical problem exercises. Actively engage in classroom discussions and group projects.
- Comply with established rules and regulations governing the Police Academy.
- Follow assignments and instructions from the Director of Police or any Academy staff or approved Academy directors.
- Adhere to component institution policies of the police department regarding personal status and attendance at the Academy.
- Follow the University of Texas System Police Code of Conduct and the rules and regulations promulgated by the Board of Regents.
- Perform other related duties as required.
This position is security‑sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
