Area Loss Prevention Manager
The Area Loss Prevention Manager (ALPM) is responsible for protecting the assets of Ross Stores, Inc., while achieving shortage and safety goals for assigned stores, district(s), and area. The ALPM manages, promotes, and directs loss prevention initiatives and programs, develops and maintains strong partnerships at the store, district, and zone levels, and provides leadership to minimize operational shortage, mitigate theft and fraud, and maintain a safe environment for associates and customers.
SalaryNational base salary range: $75,700 - $113,650.
Essential Functions- Achieve shortage reduction goals for assigned stores/district(s)/area.
- Understand and respond to shortage processes (CNS, MOS, Front‑End Operations, MPT, etc.) and analytics.
- Identify shortage risks, develop action plans, and partner with stores.
- Conduct consistent, objective shortage audits and drive continuous improvement.
- Coach, train, and influence store leadership and associates on best‑practice execution to minimize operational shortage.
- Promote shortage awareness through programs such as Shortage Highway and Loss Prevention Awareness Center.
- Support stores during annual (and/or semi‑annual) inventory processes.
- Adhere to budget guidelines for stores/district(s)/area.
- Aggressively identify, investigate, and resolve internal and external theft and fraud.
- Maximize utilization of merchandise protection tools (EAS, domes, alarm equipment, etc.).
- Ensure consistent execution of deterrence resources/tools.
- Use reporting systems to identify theft activity, drive resolution, and maintain confidentiality.
- Manage and develop store protection specialists (SPS) and participate in hiring, training, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of theft activity and related follow‑up.
- Promote a safety‑first culture, conduct safety audits, and support safety incentive programs.
- Drive achievement of accident reduction goals and conduct safety audits.
- Execute crisis management and incident response, coach leadership on investigations.
- Provide physical security expertise and ensure proper functionality of store security technologies.
- Regularly evaluate building integrity and address equipment failure.
- Train store leadership and associates on current loss prevention initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with corporate loss prevention partners and field peers.
- Foster partnerships with other internal organizations to drive integrated solutions.
- Drive performance management culture, detect improvement opportunities, and influence change.
- Participate in recruitment and hiring of top talent for loss prevention positions.
- Promote internal communication through conference calls and rally meetings.
- Establish external communication with law enforcement and retail loss prevention organizations.
- Assist in development and update of training materials.
- Perform other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
