About St. Mark's Founded in 1906, St. Mark's School of Texas is a non-sectarian, college-preparatory, independent day school for boys in grades one through twelve. Position Description
To maintain the security and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to campus. Patrol campus and maintain the security of buildings and grounds. Qualified candidates should visit our website to complete an online application, including a letter of interest and resume.
Responsibilities- Ensures the security and safety of the campus and its constituents at all times
- Locks and unlocks campus and building entrances and exits at designated times and as authorized otherwise
- Provides security at campus and building entrances through established protocols.
- Provides directions and information as needed
- Provides security at designated events as required
- Checks parent and visitor identification and authorization information
- Patrols school grounds and parking areas by vehicle and on foot; observes employees, students, and visitors ensuring a secure and safe environment
- Prepares logs and reports; documents daily activities, illegal activity and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
- Monitors the campus for environmental hazards and takes corrective action as required by school policy
- Assists with traffic flow during student drop-off/pickup periods and special events.
- Maintains and monitors security cameras, fire alarm system and access controls
- Calls police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with students
- Attends required abuse risk management training
- Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
- Must be honorably retired Texas Peace Officer
- Have a current qualification or be able to complete the TCOLE Retiree Handgun
- Ability to take charge while responding professionally and calmly in emergency situations
- Demonstrated ability to analyze security and safety risks and make appropriate recommendations within a school setting
- A demonstrated and proven knowledge of security procedures
- Basic First Aid knowledge highly preferred
- Possess a valid driver's license and remain in good standing
- A demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, and fast-paced team environment
- Excellent and effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees, students, parents, school administration and local law enforcement representatives.
- A demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of the task assigned
- Be willing to flex days and hours based upon needs of the school
- Be willing to work afternoon, evening, and/ or weekend days and hours
- Sitting and/or driving, standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, moving light furniture and/or equipment, walking several hours per day in hallways and outside. Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures)
- General knowledge of safety in the operation of a motor vehicle
- Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR training
