Methodist Health System is seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, visitors, and staff in a dynamic, mission-driven healthcare environment. Responsibilities include monitoring entrances and exits, conducting interior and exterior patrols, operating CCTV and access control systems, and responding to alarms, codes, and emergencies. The Security Officer will de-escalate conflicts, assist clinical teams with safety concerns, enforce policies, document incidents, and provide courteous assistance and escorts, supporting a safe, healing environment aligned with our faith-based values.
Responsibilities
- Monitor facility entrances, exits, and restricted areas to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to identify and address safety or security risks
- Operate CCTV, access control, and alarm systems; respond promptly to alerts and codes
- De-escalate disturbances and support staff in managing disruptive or unsafe behavior
- Document incidents, prepare clear written reports, and follow chain-of-command notification protocols
- Provide escorts for patients, visitors, and staff as needed, delivering courteous customer service
- Collaborate with clinical and facilities teams during emergencies, drills, and disaster responses
- Enforce hospital policies, parking rules, and visitor guidelines while upholding patient privacy and dignity
