Overview
We are seeking an experienced OSP Wireline Construction Trainer to support field operations in Dallas, Texas. This role is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality classroom and hands-on training for Outside Plant (OSP) fiber construction crews. The ideal candidate has strong field experience in underground fiber installation and heavy equipment operation and is passionate about mentoring and elevating workforce capability.
This position directly impacts safety, compliance, and project performance by ensuring crews are properly trained, skilled, and job-ready.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver classroom and field-based training for OSP wireline construction crews.
- Train crews on safe and proper operation of heavy equipment:
- Backhoe
- Excavator
- Directional drill
- Diesel/gas-powered equipment
- Pneumatic gopher / jetting equipment
- Compressors
- Provide instruction on safe use of hand tools (e.g., shovel, tamper, generator).
- Train locating techniques for buried cables, utilities, and wire.
- Deliver training on underground fiber installation, including:
- Pedestals
- Handholes
- OSP construction best practices
- Train flagging and traffic control procedures.
- Train property and worksite restoration standards.
- Conduct worksite walk-throughs to identify issues and provide corrective guidance.
- Ensure crews meet company and industry compliance standards.
- Support managers with employee development and performance plans.
- Maintain training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Train crews in heavy equipment operation and safe tool usage.
- Conduct hands-on fiber installation training.
- Provide instruction on safe excavation and utility locating.
- Review jobsites for safety and quality.
- Assist managers with employee skill development paths.
- Maintain accurate training and qualification documentation.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Utility construction field experience with demonstrated crew leadership.
- Telecommunications construction experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to present and instruct effectively in both classroom and field settings.
- Ability to collaborate with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Basic computer proficiency (Google Workspace preferred).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical exam and maintain a valid medical card.
- Previous experience training, mentoring, or leading construction crews.
- Strong understanding of underground fiber installation principles.
- Experience conducting jobsite safety reviews and worksite evaluations.
- Full-time direct hire
- Salary: $70,000 – $90,000
- Bonus: 15% eligibility
