Job Description – Appliance Tech (Café tech)

Position:
Appliance Tech – responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of household appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, kitchen appliances such as ice machines, water fountains, coffee machines, pizza ovens, kettles, and steamers.

Job Step

Journeyman:
Typically 3 years or more documented field experience in the chosen craft discipline with ability to read and interpret instructions and plan and perform work activities independently. Must be Universal EPA 608 certified.
Leadman:
Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to other craft workers in the work crew, aiding the Foreman while working in the capacity of a journeyman.
Maintenance:
Focuses on repair, maintenance, and installation of HVAC, refrigeration, and steam distribution equipment systems.

Summary

Performs skilled, complex work in the repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilating, refrigeration, and steam distribution equipment systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of household appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, and kitchen appliances such as ice machines, water fountains, coffee machines, pizza ovens, kettles, and steamers.

Responsibilities
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilating, refrigeration, and steam distribution equipment and systems.
  • Installs and repairs ice machines, water fountains, coffee machines, pizza ovens, kettles, and steamers.
  • Operates a variety of equipment as needed to perform work.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electronic devices related to HVAC control.
  • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints.
  • Loads, transports, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintains tools and equipment.
  • Observes and complies with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Diagnoses appliance repair issues; quotes repairs and any necessary parts; orders parts.
  • Performs routine maintenance on various appliances to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Utilizes specialized tools and equipment to troubleshoot and resolve appliance issues efficiently.
  • Maintains accurate records of repairs, parts used, and service provided.
  • Provides excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients about repairs, maintenance, and costs.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and industry standards to ensure safe and effective repairs.
  • Keeps up to date with the latest technology and repair techniques through continuous education and training.

  • Relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Works under immediate supervision.
