Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Installation Technician
We support employers in the heavy equipment and crane sectors who need experienced mechanics to keep their fleet reliable, safe, and ready for mobilization. This role is a shop-based crane mechanic position focused on crawler cranes, marine‑influenced electrical systems, and general crane support. It’s ideal for someone with strong mechanical instincts who takes pride in thorough inspections, quality repairs, and on‑time project readiness.
This is a high‑priority role with steady work, no climbing, and equipment laid flat in the shop for maintenance. Occasional field calls may occur when a unit is down, but the majority of the work is performed in the shop.
What You’ll Do- Inspect crawler cranes, hoists, and related equipment to diagnose malfunctions or verify job‑site readiness.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs on cranes, marine equipment, and support systems.
- Conduct scheduled services (500‑hr, 1000‑hr, 2000‑hr) and general maintenance on diesel, gas, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Repair and maintain components such as enclosures, dashboards, electrical panels, control systems, and attachments.
- Use meters, diagnostic tools, and shop equipment to troubleshoot issues and confirm repairs.
- Prep cranes and equipment for upcoming projects, ensuring deadlines for mobilization are met.
- Support Alimak hoists and tower cranes when crawler or marine work is not active.
- Perform occasional field repairs to return equipment to service or assist in bringing it back to the shop.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Document work performed using company systems and maintain accurate service records.
- 3–5 years of experience in heavy equipment, crane, marine, or rental industry service.
- Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, basic electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulics.
- Ability to perform scheduled maintenance intervals (500‑hr, 1000‑hr, 2000‑hr).
- Experience with crawler cranes or willingness to learn quickly.
- Familiarity with marine systems (inboard/outboard motors) is a plus but not required.
- Ability to learn increasingly complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong attention to safety, regulatory compliance, and proper repair procedures.
- Solid communication skills and a team‑first mindset.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
