HVAC Mechanic II (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday)
Texas Behavioral Health Center – Dallas, Texas. This role supports mechanical work installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, cooling, and steam equipment across university buildings.
Job SummaryWorks under minimal supervision to provide skilled mechanical work. Responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
Work LocationDallas, Texas – onsite 100% of the time.
Shift Requirement7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent, or vocational school.
- Minimum 3 years experience operating and maintaining large (≥25,000 cfm) air handling units, steam pressure reducing stations, chilled water systems, pumps, high‑pressure boilers, and auxiliary equipment and control systems. Proficient in at least three of these systems.
- Five years experience operating large industrial HVAC systems, including chilled water, hot water, steam and related components.
- Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Pipe welding qualification.
- Perform complex diagnostic HVAC repairs and act as lead mechanic on projects and system issues.
- Diagnose root cause of HVAC problems and failures to identify repair and replacement needs.
- Repair HVAC systems and components (pumps, motors, AHUs, exhaust fans, piping, etc.) to ensure campus cooling and heating needs are met.
- Obtain and compare quotes from vendors and contractors for equipment repairs; assist with vendor coordination.
- Support shift coverage and after‑hours or extended projects as needed; respond to emergency situations.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars as requested.
- Train and mentor new personnel and lower‑level mechanics.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe operating condition; keep equipment rooms organized and free of hazards.
- Perform HVAC Mechanic III duties when required.
- Act as shop leadership in absence of foreman or higher‑level mechanic.
- Other duties as assigned.
