Diesel Technician Apprentice-Paid Training-Morning Shift

Position Summary

At Republic Services, Technicians play a critical role in maintaining the performance and quality of our fleet. A Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. The two‑year apprenticeship program trains an entry‑level technician in electrical diagnosis of starting & charging systems, air conditioning & heating component identification & inspection, wheel‑end assembly component identification & inspection, air system component identification & inspection, air brake component identification & inspection, hydraulics component identification & inspection, and truck preventive maintenance.

To thrive, the Apprentice must be a logical problem‑solver, enthusiastic about vehicle engineering, and committed to ongoing learning.

The Republic Services Technician Apprenticeship program offers training across the United States. Over two years, the apprentice will attend nine weeks of company‑paid training at the Republic Services Technical Institute in Dallas, Texas, followed by 22 months of on‑the‑job training (OJT) with mentorship, virtual instruction, and hands‑on projects. Accelerated apprentices may advance to a LevelC Technician sooner if milestones are met.

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles.
• Identify and inspect wheel‑end, hydraulic, electrical, air brake, air system, and AC/heating components.
• Complete basic tire work and other mechanic tasks as needed.
• Assist with the Republic Preventative Maintenance Program and other job‑related training.

• Logical problem‑solver with an interest in engineering and technology.
• Commitment to completing the two‑year apprenticeship program.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Willingness to uphold Republic Services’ values of safety, ethics, and respect.
• Ability to travel to and live in Dallas, Texas for nine weeks of in‑person training.

• Morning shift (4am–1pm).
