Lead Field Technician/Mechanic (Dallas, TX) - Austin Equipment Yard

Austin Equipment Yard has an outstanding opportunity for a Lead Field Technician/Mechanic for heavy civil projects in the North Texas area. The technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing various types of heavy construction equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates smoothly
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic equipment or hands‑on tests
  • Repair or replace broken parts, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
  • Maintain detailed service records for each piece of equipment for warranty, compliance, and tracking purposes
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of service and repair experience with heavy construction equipment
  • Maintenance and preventive maintenance skills
  • Maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong commitment to jobsite safety
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to work hours adjusted to meet project needs, including days, nights, and weekends
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship offered
