UT Southwestern is actively seeking a skilled and dependable Building Maintenance Specialist (BMS), 1st Shift (Days) to support facility operations at Clements University Hospital. We are looking for someone with strong troubleshooting skills, multi-trade experience at a journeyman level, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; hospital facilities/utilities maintenance experience strongly preferred. As a Building Maintenance Specialist (BMS), you will respond to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building system issues, including critical patient care systems such as nurse call and pneumatic tube systems, helping ensure a safe and efficient healthcare environment;

performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades, completes inspections, installs equipment, and maintains accurate documentation. Works under minimal supervision to provide journeyman level skills in performance of work of at least two trades or crafts and to act as liaison between Physical Plant and Administrator of assigned facility.

Work Location:

Clements University Hospital (CUH), Dallas Campus; assist other locations as needed. Shift Requirement: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday; may include a rotating weekend shift serving as the primary responder for hospital-wide calls, along with weekday coverage for assigned areas.

Required

Education:

High School Diploma GED or vocational school

Experience:

4 years of skilled or journeyman level experience including two years of such experience in each of two trades or crafts

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs plumbing, electrical, welding, mechanical, housekeeping, carpentry, and painting repairs according to service requests for specifically assigned specialties.
  • Inspects plumbing, electrical, mechanical housekeeping, etc. in assigned buildings as scheduled by work order from Management.
  • Maintains records and documents of work completed.
  • Installs new equipment as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
