UT Southwestern is actively seeking a skilled and reliable Senior Plumber (730AM‑4PM, Mon‑Fri with On‑Call) to join our Hospital Facilities team. The candidate should have a minimum of six (6) years as a licensed Master Plumber or eight (8) years as a licensed Journeyman Plumber, with experience installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in hospital or academic research clinical settings. (ASSE) Medical Gas or Backflow Preventer Maintenance certifications are highly preferred.
As a Senior Plumber, you will work independently and as part of a team to complete projects on time and within budget; demonstrate strong knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations, excellent problem‑solving skills, mentorship abilities, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality workmanship and customer service. Work requires minimal supervision.
Work LocationDallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
Shift RequirementMonday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with On‑Call; overtime as needed.
Required Experience and Education- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) years of plumbing experience with Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners licensure as a Master Plumber, or eight (8) years of plumbing experience as a Journeyman in a commercial, institutional, or healthcare setting.

Certifications:
(ASSE) Medical Gas Maintenance Certificate or Backflow Preventer Maintenance Certification.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains air, gas, sewer, and steam lines and systems.
- Cuts, bends, and threads pipe, fitting valves and couplings to pipe sections by screwing, bolting, or soldering and cleans lead joints.
- Installs pipe assemblies and plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, emergency eye‑wash stations, special laboratory equipment, water heaters, etc., roughing‑in when needed.
- Repairs and cleans sewer pipes and clears clogged lines.
- Assists in supervising and inspecting jobs on completion for compliance with work requests and ensures installations function properly and work areas are left in proper condition.
- Coordinates workflow of other plumbers and lesser‑skilled mechanics in the supervisor's absence.
- May assist in developing plans and specifications on repairs, alterations, and construction projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is security‑sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
