Job Summary
UT Southwestern Medical Center is actively seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician II to perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical building systems and equipment at Zale Lipshy Pavilion. We look for someone with journeyman-level skills in multiple trades—including HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems—in a hospital/healthcare environment; strong troubleshooting abilities, a proactive maintenance mindset, and experience maintaining healthcare or commercial facility systems.
WorkLocation
Zale Lipshy Pavilion, onsite 100% of time; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
Shift Requirement7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday; availability for overtime when needed.
Required Experience and Education- Education: High School Diploma or vocational school.
- Experience: 4 years related work experience or journeyman-level experience; 2 years experience in skilled maintenance trade (PM, DI/RO, Air, Vac).
- Perform preventive maintenance on building, systems, and equipment such as electrical, air systems, deionized water system, plumbing systems, and mechanical equipment; proactively maintain all aspects of assigned area and consult with customers on priority of work.
- Start up, shut down, and adjust equipment or systems in accordance with established operational, safety procedures and complete all UTSW required compliance training.
- Inspect systems and equipment for proper lubrication, calibration, vibration, seal failures, etc.; perform detailed inspections and report unusual conditions or deficiencies to supervisory or managerial personnel.
- Carry out major repairs on technical systems and supporting equipment and perform preventative, predictive, or corrective maintenance tasks as assigned and within timelines.
- Support area shift coverage, after‑hours or extended projects as needed; assist in major maintenance repairs.
- Train and mentor new personnel in area of expertise; teach basic knowledge of codes and proper tool use; read and interpret blueprints or drawings for corrections when needed.
- Document conditions found and perform minor repairs, following departmental guidelines; serve as primary point of contact for customers for all Facilities Management services.
- Make recommendations in writing regarding major repairs and/or variances in frequency and type of preventive maintenance scheduled.
- Participate in the Facilities Management sponsored in‑house craft trade training program; attend maintenance training courses, area staff, and safety meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
