Job Summary
UT Southwestern is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Systems Technician to lead the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our complex 138kv substation and electrical distribution system.
We are looking for someone with a minimum of twelve (12) years of hands‑on experience, strong troubleshooting/problem‑solving skills, strong blueprint literacy, mentorship abilities, and a proven track record of driving operational safety and infrastructure reliability.
As a Senior Electrical Systems Technician
, you will apply advanced diagnostic expertise to solve critical system failures, ensure strict compliance with NEC and OSHA safety standards, and mentor junior technicians while working under minimal supervision.
Location:
Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
Shift: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday; requires 24/7 on‑call/emergency availability.

- Operate and maintain university‑owned 138kv substation and 15kv distribution system.
- Coordinate annual maintenance, installation and repair of high and medium voltage equipment.
- Write switching procedures for load transfers and isolation with minimum customer disruption.
- Maintain and analyze preventative maintenance records and recommend repairs and/or upgrades.
- Analyze electrical distribution equipment annual thermographic survey data and generate reports.
- Review annual distribution transformer oil analysis test results and determine any action required.
- Work with consulting engineering firms on all electrical upgrades.
- Ensure all contractor work complies with UT specifications and policies and is performed safely.
- Respond to electrical equipment emergency call‑ins 24/7 and restore power in a timely manner.
- Review electrical drawings and submittals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Associate's Degree in a related field.
