Ensure all carpentry operations are completed in compliance with all applicable safety codes and SFT standards and regulations; maintain and repair all construction equipment including SFT buildings and grounds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEssential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist Carpenter Shop with General Woodworking which includes sanding, sawing, hammers, and framing and painting including, but not limited to rides, shows, tents, stables, stands, and any daily construction needs of the SFT grounds.
- Support construction of premises and buildings for the maintenance of existing Maintenance Repairs.
- Under the direction of the Master Carpenter, install new Construction operations for SFT exhibits including all booths, stages, exhibits, and tents.
- Maintain construction on grounds.
- Assist with the dismantling of construction services after fair.
- Principles, practices, methods, and techniques of the Carpenter Shop.
- Carpentry codes and standards, basic understanding of building requirements, and other applicable systems.
- Building construction techniques and processes. Ability to use basic tools such as tape measure, drill ect.
- Industry standards and specifications for public service construction projects.
- Accepted safety standards and methods of construction activities.
- Basic mathematics as applied to construction/inspection work.
- Pertinent Federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations affecting health and safety.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or higher level of education.
- Previous work experience as an electrician.
- Oral and written communication.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas driver's license.
- Reports to Manager - Maintenance.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
Working outdoors in various weather conditions such as extreme heat and on uneven and/or slippery surfaces, as necessary, especially during Fair time and special events.
- Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time.
- Moving short and long distances to access office supplies, meet guests, perform duties within Fairgrounds, etc.
- Verbally communicate with both internal and external contacts.
- Occasionally lift objects no more than 25 pounds unassisted.
- Varies depending on events.
