Concrete Carpenter Position Overview
A Concrete Carpenter is responsible for constructing, setting, and aligning concrete forms for underground utility structures and flatwork while ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and production standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, precision, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities- Build, set, and strip concrete forms for structures such as Manholes, Inlets, Headwalls, Culverts, and Junction boxes.
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood or metal forms according to project specifications and grade requirements.
- Read and interpret detailed specs, civil plans, and grade stakes to ensure accurate layout and elevations.
- Ensure forms are properly aligned, braced, and prepared for concrete placement.
- Assist with pouring, placing, and finishing concrete as needed.
- Inspect forms and completed work to verify structural integrity and compliance with project standards.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Collaborate with Foremen, Equipment Operators, and crew members to maintain workflow and productivity.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites.
- Ability to read construction plans and use measuring tools accurately.
- Strong understanding of concrete forming systems and construction practices.
- Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively within a team.
- Work is performed outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to perform prolonged physical activities including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
