Position: Building Maintenance Specialist, Building Maintenance (730AM-4PM, Mon-Fri)

Building Maintenance Specialist – Building Maintenance (730 AM–4 PM, Mon‑Fri) (953825)

UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced and skilled Building Maintenance Specialist to play a vital role in maintaining the safe, reliable operation of a world‑class healthcare facility. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of journeyman‑level experience in at least two skilled trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or mechanical systems.

Experience in a healthcare or large institutional environment is strongly preferred.

As a Building Maintenance Specialist, you will perform journeyman‑level maintenance across multiple trades—including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems—while supporting critical hospital infrastructure that directly impacts patient care. You will work with minimal supervision, provide expertise in at least two trades, and act as a liaison between Physical Plant and the administrator of the assigned facility.

Work Location
:
Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.

Shift Requirement
: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday; overtime and emergency on‑call when needed.

Job Duties

  • Perform plumbing, electrical, welding, mechanical, housekeeping, carpentry, and painting repairs according to service requests for assigned specialties.
  • Inspect plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and housekeeping systems in assigned buildings as scheduled by management work order.
  • Maintain records and documents of work completed.
  • Install new equipment as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education – Required

  • Education
    :
    High School Diploma, GED, or vocational school.
  • Experience
    : 4 years of skilled or journeyman‑level experience, including at least two years in each of two trades or crafts.
