The UNT Dallas Facilities Maintenance Department supports the campus by providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of UNT System's physical assets. The team performs routine and preventative maintenance and repairs of the building and utility infrastructure, and operates, maintains, and repairs facilities and installed systems in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and established policies and standards.
Responsibilities- Able to perform routine maintenance to electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Operate computer based Building Management System.
- Inspect and verify satisfactory completion of work by contractors and others.
- Operate and reset Fire Alarm system, Fire Sprinkler System, Fire Pump, Stair Pressurization fans, smoke curtains, fire dampers, etc.
- Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MEP equipment at the downtown Dallas location.
High school diploma/GED equivalent and one (1) year experience in related maintenance/repair field; or any equivalent combination of experience, education or training.
Knowledge,Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of and skill in use of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of general maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of general maintenance.
- Knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and working drawings.
- Ability to use basic shop math applications.
- Ability to locate and identify problems in appropriate building systems or equipment and to plan and execute necessary repairs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Physical ability to perform moderately heavy physical work which includes lifting and crawling, and to remain outdoors in inclement weather.
- Five years experience in either the HVAC or Electrical trade.
- Associate Degree or Trade School.
- Communicating with others to exchange information. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds; up to 50 pounds; up to 100 pounds or more; moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Moving self in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces. Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Elevated temperatures.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles; exposure to moving mechanical parts or vibration.
- Low temperatures. Noisy environments.
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Work with toxic or caustic chemicals.
