Summary

The Multi-License Fire Protection Inspector / Fire Alarm Installation Technician is responsible for performing routine inspections, testing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation support for fire protection and life safety systems with minimal supervision. This role includes diagnosing system deficiencies, documenting inspection findings, supporting repairs, and ensuring all fire alarm, sprinkler, and related systems meet code compliance and customer standards. The position requires strong customer interaction, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards for safety and service.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on fire alarm, sprinkler, backflow, and life safety systems with minimal supervision
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and evaluate systems requiring service or corrective action
  • Properly document inspections, deficiencies, repairs, and compliance requirements
  • Provide customers with detailed reports and recommended corrective actions
  • Install fire alarm systems including wiring, devices, conduit, and associated equipment as required
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and system layouts for installation or service needs
  • Prepare systems for AHJ, fire marshal, and regulatory inspections
  • Coordinate with customers, project managers, technicians, and internal teams to ensure project and service success
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation and project updates
  • Follow all company safety standards while working in diverse facility environments
  • Perform physical work including climbing ladders/stairs, lifting equipment, and accessing all required inspection areas
Qualifications / Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire sprinkler installation, inspection, or fire protection system service
  • Strong background in fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety systems
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Pass drug/alcohol screening and background check, including motor vehicle records
  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders, and working in demanding field environments
  • Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed
Required Certifications / Licenses
  • Texas RME-I License
  • Texas Backflow License
  • Texas FAL License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities
  • Knowledge of AHJ processes, code compliance, and inspection preparation

    Leadership experience or mentoring junior technicians
