Carpenter
Cetechs is seeking experienced Carpenters to support the Dallas VA Medical Center. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled trades professionals who take pride in quality workmanship and want to support our nation's Veterans by maintaining a world-class healthcare facility.
The Carpenter performs a wide variety of construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects throughout the medical center campus. Work includes interior and exterior carpentry, drywall installation, cabinetry, flooring, acoustical ceilings, doors, windows, framing, concrete forms, and general finish carpentry.
- Install and repair walls, ceilings, floors, roofs, doors, and windows
- Construct and repair drywall partitions and wood-framed structures
- Install and finish trim, molding, cabinetry, shelving, and countertops
- Build custom furniture, workbenches, bulletin boards, and storage cabinets
- Install laminate, Formica, paneling, carpet, and other flooring materials
- Construct concrete forms for sidewalks, curbs, and steps
- Install acoustical ceiling systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs as assigned
- Complete daily work reports and communicate progress with the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR)
- Maintain accurate daily timecards and documentation
- Follow all OSHA, VA, and facility safety requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial or institutional carpentry experience preferred
- Current OSHA Certification (required before starting work)
- Ability to safely operate standard carpentry tools and equipment
- Experience reading blueprints and performing accurate measurements
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices
- Ability to pass a VA background investigation before beginning employment
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Stand, kneel, climb ladders, bend, and work overhead
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
- Safely use power and hand tools throughout the workday
Employees must provide and wear:
- OSHA-approved steel-toe boots
- Long-sleeve shirt and long pants (arc-rated or natural fiber)
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- No weekends required
- Federal holidays off
- Overtime only if approved in advance by the VA
