UT Southwestern is seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our Facilities team. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma, GED, or vocational training, a valid Texas driver’s license, and at least three years of skilled or journeyman‑level carpentry experience in a commercial, institutional, or healthcare setting. This role works under minimal supervision to provide general level skills in performance of carpentry work.
Qualifications- Required:
- High School Diploma or vocational school or equivalent
- 3 years skilled or journeyman level experience as a carpenter in a commercial, institutional, or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of door hardware and proficiency in use of large power tools (e.g., table saw, circular saw, router, miter saw)
- Preferred:
- Union‑sponsored training, construction‑related certifications, and carpentry experience in hospitals, universities, or large‑scale healthcare systems
- Journeyman Carpenter License
- Performs a variety of general carpentry work involved in alteration, construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings or parts of buildings such as floors, walls, stairways, doors, windows, partitions, bookcases, etc.
- Removes and replaces hardware; installs or replaces linoleum, asphalt floor tile, ceiling tile, or window glass.
- Cleans, sharpens, and repairs saws, hand and power tools and equipment, oils machines and performs preventive maintenance work.
- Assists in determining and maintaining time and material records for each job.
- May supervise craft trade trainees and/or maintenance workers.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.
Shift Requirement7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
