Building Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Building Engineer with a strong background in both commercial and residential properties. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and general building infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure all facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations while delivering exceptional service to tenants and residents.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve building system issues in commercial office buildings, mixed-use properties, and residential communities.
  • Monitor and maintain boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units (AHUs), rooftop units (RTUs), pumps, and building automation systems.
  • Complete work orders and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors and contractors performing maintenance and repair work.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and compliance documentation.
  • Support tenant improvement projects, renovations, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, and company safety standards.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and participate in after-hours on-call rotations as required.
  • Assist with budgeting, inventory management, and procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with property managers, tenants, residents, and vendors.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in HVAC systems, preventative maintenance, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Skilled in plumbing repairs, building automation systems (BAS), and managing chillers and boilers.
  • Experience in vendor management, tenant relations, and life safety systems.
  • Competence in work order management, facility and facilities maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintenance repair.

  • Building Operator Certification (BOC)
  • OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Certification
  • Stationary Engineer License (where applicable)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
