Job Summary

Job Description Overview

The Electrical Manager manages, oversees, assists, and provides technical training and review for all electrical work for various departments. Develops, oversees and continually refines electrical preventive maintenance program and performs safety inspections.

Essential Functions
  • 1 Manages, oversees, and supervises the electrical work performed for various departments throughout the City; delegates authority and responsibility for assigned tasks to subordinates; identifies needed areas of change or development and institutes changes to improve operations; plans, implements, coordinates, monitors compliance, and evaluates policies and procedures; reviews and oversees work schedules of others all subordinate levels.
  • 2 Establishes short-, mid- and long-term goals and objectives; develops and/or approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; implements and oversees the electrical preventive maintenance program for all electrical work done; ensures work orders and scheduled maintenance on equipment is completed on time.
  • 3 Inspects, evaluates, and reviews work completed by electricians for quality and safety standards; provides training to new employees or crew leaders; performs project estimating, contractor coordination, and project management; organizes and attends weekly staff and construction meetings
  • 4 Analyzes, evaluates, and ensures production goals are met in a timely manner and works to increase productivity; oversees the preparation of and evaluates, implements, and administers the department budget; oversees the planning, development, and operation of special projects or facilities.
  • 5 Manages equipment, inventory, fixed assets and supplies; gathers and organizes equipment data, single line diagrams, and panel locations; utilizes thermal imaging test equipment in testing electrical mains, switch gear, and panel boards and ensures all electricians are applying skills and equipment safely and appropriately.
  • 6 Represents the program area at meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and committees; testifies at hearings, trials, and legislative meetings as appropriate.
  • 7 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
  • 1 Knowledge of electrical maintenance, repair, installation, and safety.
  • 2 Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations.
  • 3 Ability to supervise, lead, and provide technical expertise to other electricians.
  • 4 Ability to prioritize work, estimate projects, and perform project management.
  • 5 Ability to read various complex schematic diagrams and blueprints.
  • 6 Ability to use and instruct in various types of hand tools, power tools, precision testing and/or troubleshooting equipment.
  • 7 Ability to understand technical terminology of the specialization assigned.
  • 8 Customer service and conflict resolution.
  • 9 Communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
  • 10 Establishing and maintaining strong and effective relationships.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience:

    Five (5) years experience as a journey electrician; including at least three (3) years of supervisory responsibilities.
  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    State Master Electrician License
Salary Range

$77,272.00 - $96,574.40

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
