Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Ambulance Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of emergency response vehicles, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and compliant with all applicable regulations. This role plays a critical part in supporting emergency services by minimizing downtime and maximizing vehicle performance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and detailed inspections on ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
- Ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards including DOT, NFPA, and OEM guidelines.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on engines, brakes, suspension systems, HVAC, and other vital components.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and service logs.
- Coordinate with emergency personnel to address specific performance or operational concerns.
- Respond to emergency vehicle breakdowns in the field when necessary.
- Assist with upfitting or modification of new emergency vehicles.
- Order parts and materials as needed; manage inventory and ensure proper tools are available.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to emergency vehicle maintenance.
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
- Experience as an automotive, diesel, or emergency vehicle mechanic.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- ASE Certification (Automotive Service Excellence).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, diagnostics tools, and software.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under time constraints.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Experience working with ambulance manufacturers
- Familiarity with telematics and GPS fleet tracking systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety standards.
