Road & Rail Services is recruiting a skilled Locomotive Mechanic to join our operation in Mulberry, Florida
. We are specifically looking for an established railroad mechanical professional who has direct experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing locomotives.
This position requires previous locomotive repair experience and is not intended as an entry-level opportunity.
Currently living outside Florida? That's okay. We're actively seeking experienced locomotive professionals from other markets who are open to relocating.
Eligible candidates may receive a relocation package to assist with their move to the Mulberry area.
After relocation, you will report primarily to our Mulberry operation. You should also be comfortable traveling periodically when mechanical support is needed at another railroad facility or project.
What You'll Be DoingThis position combines troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and hands‑on locomotive repair. Responsibilities may include:
- Diagnose locomotive mechanical and equipment failures
- Inspect diesel locomotives and determine necessary repairs
- Troubleshoot engines, electrical components, air systems, and brake equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections
- Repair, remove, and replace locomotive components
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication work
- Use electrical meters, diagnostic devices, hand tools, and power equipment
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and technical specifications
- Test equipment and verify proper operation following repairs
- Complete required maintenance and inspection records
- Maintain tools and work areas in safe condition
- Follow company, customer, railroad, and applicable FRA requirements
Applicants must have professional, hands‑on locomotive maintenance or repair experience

Qualified candidates should bring:
- Proven experience repairing diesel locomotives
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of locomotive engines and mechanical components
- Experience with electrical, pneumatic, air, and brake systems
- Welding and fabrication capabilities
- Ability to understand technical diagrams and schematics
- Experience with industrial tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs with limited supervision
- Strong safety awareness and dependable work habits
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel when operational needs require it
- Willingness to relocate to Mulberry, Florida
- Backgrounds such as Diesel Locomotive Mechanic, Locomotive Repairman, Composite Repairman, Locomotive Maintenance Technician, or Railroad Mechanical Technician may align well with this opportunity.

Candidates hired from outside the area will need to relocate and establish Mulberry as their primary work location

Pay & Benefits$35.00–$40.00/hour based on experience and qualifications.
