Position: 0000003496.Victim/Witness Coordinator.District Attorney 'S Office

Description

Assists crime victims by providing information on their rights, available services, legal proceedings, compensation claims; interacts with law enforcement agencies, crime victim compensation agencies, and other victim service providers; and receives and responds to notifications from the Victim Information and Notification Everyday system (VINE).

Responsibilities
  • Assists victims of crime by providing information on available services and notifying victims of their rights as required by law.
  • Assists victims and witnesses with travel arrangements, filings with State agencies and referrals to appropriate victim service agencies.
  • Provides victims and/or witnesses with court setting information and notifies victims when cases are appealed.
  • Interacts with law enforcement agencies, the Texas Prison Board of Pardons and Paroles, the Judiciary and State crime victim compensation agencies.
  • Operates the VINE system, by receiving incoming notices and requests, researching information when necessary, and forwarding notifications/reports to the appropriate agencies.
  • Assists victims in filing victim compensation claims and victim impact statements; reports ineligible compensation claims to the State.
  • Provides judges with copies of victim impact statements and ensures statements are forwarded to the Texas Prison Board of Pardons and Paroles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or in a job related field of study. One (1) year experience.
