Child Protective Services Worker (Social Services Specialist1) – Dallas

The Oregon Department of Human Services proudly offers a full‑time, permanent position in its Child Welfare Program. The role focuses on conducting child safety assessments, developing service plans, and coordinating services to protect and support vulnerable children and families.

• Respond to referrals, interview children, parents, and contacts.
• Observe home environments, conduct child safety assessments, and determine abuse or neglect.
• Make protective decisions and take action when necessary.
• Develop and implement service plans that meet children’s and families’ needs.
• Arrange medical evaluations, placements, and connect families with community resources.
• Prepare reports, safety plans, assessment evaluations, and case notes.
• Testify in court and communicate with diverse populations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field; OR
• Bachelor’s degree unrelated to Human Services AND one of the following:
  • One (1) year of human services experience;
  • Completion of coursework equivalent to Oregon Caseworker Competency;
  • Other professional certification or training consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
• Associate degree AND two (2) years of human services experience; OR one year of experience with related training, coursework, or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.

• Crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and behavior management skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of trauma impact and child development.
• Critical thinking to make quick, professional decisions.
• Effective oral and written communication with diverse audiences.
• Mentoring and engaging families to implement successful strategies.
• Connecting families to community supports for least restrictive outcomes.

• Office, participant homes, and community sites.
• Schedule:
  
  Monday‑Friday 8a.m.–5p.m. Pacific Time, with occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work.
• Rotating on‑call schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Travel required (stairs, uneven terrain, assisting children up to 50lb).

• Salary range: $4,954‑$7,592 per month.
• Annual salary increase until top of the range.
