Residential Support Specialist In My Shoes Our Mission

In My Shoes provides a safe, welcoming community for pregnant women experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Guided by our core values of Dignity, Humility, and Grit, we walk alongside mothers as they build stability, confidence, and healthy families.

Position Summary

Residential Support Specialists provide on-site support to help maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging home for resident mothers and their babies. This role includes resident support, safety monitoring, household operations, documentation, and occasional childcare or transportation while maintaining professional boundaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site coverage and maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Support residents with daily needs while upholding house expectations.
  • Monitor home safety and respond appropriately to emergencies or conflicts.
  • Prepare rooms for new residents and assist with house activities and events.
  • Receive donations, complete light housekeeping, and provide administrative support.
  • Document shift updates and communicate important information to staff.
  • Provide overnight coverage when scheduled.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Passion for serving women and children.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle.
  • Adult & Infant CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Completion of required training before independent shifts.
  • Personal Qualities
  • Compassionate, trauma-informed, and patient.
  • Calm under pressure and respectful toward people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Able to support individuals experiencing stress or crisis.
Compensation
  • $18–$20/hour, based on experience.
