Amazon seeks an experienced Data Engineer to join the DPS (Denied Party Screening) team. Our mission is to prevent denied parties from transacting with Amazon businesses, including AWS, customers, vendors, sellers, subsidiaries, etc. We screen billions of events every day and integrate with Tier 1 systems, building DPS systems, and tackling unique scaling challenges.
Responsibilities- Design, implement, and support scalable data warehouse/data lake infrastructure using AWS big data stack, Python, Redshift, Quick Sight, Glue, EMR/Spark, Athena, etc.
- Develop and manage ETLs to source data from financial, AWS networking, and operational systems, creating a unified data model for analytics and reporting.
- Create and support real‑time data pipelines built on AWS technologies including EMR, Glue, Redshift/Spectrum, and Athena.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, finance, and analytics teams to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit rich datasets for financial modeling, statistical analysis, and predictions.
- Research the latest big data and visualization technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
- Use Quick Sight to develop dashboards for senior leadership.
- Enable technical and non‑technical internal customers to drive their own analytics and report, providing self‑serve reporting and ad‑hoc support.
- Work closely with teammates to drive real‑time model implementations for risk monitoring and alerting.
- Manage multiple concurrent requests and prioritize strategically.
- Partner and collaborate across teams to deliver results.
- Mentor other engineers, influence team culture positively, and help grow the team.
- 5+ years of data engineering experience.
- Programming experience in at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, Power Shell, Ruby.
- Experience delivering end‑to‑end projects independently.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, IAM roles and permissions.
- Experience with non‑relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key‑value stores, graph databases, column‑family databases).
- Experience with distributed systems related to data storage and computing.
- Track record of extracting value from large datasets.
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience.
Base salary ranges: USA, TX, Dallas – – USD annually; USA, WA, Seattle – – USD annually. Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
