Software Engineering Group Mgr

Position Overview

Software Engineering Group Manager in PNC’s Lending Technology organization, based in either Dallas, TX or Pittsburgh, PA. This role manages 2–3 senior managers responsible for the development and support of the Lending Originations Platform, interfaces with business leaders, and acts as a liaison between partners and technology. The position does not offer employment visa sponsorship or STEM OPT participation.

• Manage a group of 2‑3 managers (or senior managers) overseeing multiple development projects, development groups, and/or application support functions for a major business segment.
• Develop and implement complex, organization-wide systems and maintain high quality application implementations.
• Allocate and ensure resource arrangements throughout the application development life cycle.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external clients to ensure application quality.
• Provide solutions or recommendations on complicated technology issues for application development and implementation.
• Conduct vendor management, performance metrics reporting, and annual budgeting.
• Interface with business leaders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• University or college degree (Bachelor’s preferred; Master’s, PhD, or equivalent certification and experience considered).
• 8+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years of prior management experience.
• Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope of responsibility.
• Strong technical and business orientation with exposure to technology and business operations.

• Java proficiency, with hands‑on experience in Spring Boot, Hibernate, REST, and microservices.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, microservices, and event‑driven design patterns.
• Experience with core Java, SQL (MySQL), and messaging technologies such as Active
  
  MQ or Kafka.
• Experience in authentication/authorization systems, API frameworks (REST, Graph
  
  QL), and persistence stores.
• Database design and optimization for relational (SQL) and No
  
  SQL databases.

• Experience with Elastic‑Search and Redis.
• Strong knowledge of performance tuning, application security, and scalability best practices.
• Experience with modern software development methodologies, with SAFe preferred.
• Familiarity with front‑end frameworks such as React.
• Experience with Dev Ops practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Openshift, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and platforms such as Bitbucket, Jenkins, and experience using Intelli
  
  J, Gradle, and writing JUnit test cases.
