Senior Python Engineer Azure

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Python Engineer with Azure for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in the USA (
Dallas, Texas
). Our client is a provider of automated solutions for HR and payroll departments.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in software engineering using Python, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Strong knowledge of Python and its ecosystem, idioms, and performance characteristics.
• Experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Production experience with Microsoft Azure and core services such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure SQL / Cosmos DB, Azure Storage, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Azure Monitor.
• In-depth understanding of designing and building RESTful APIs and integrating with numerous external/third-party APIs and data feeds.
• Demonstrated experience building systems that handle sensitive personal data securely, with attention to encryption, access control, and audit trails.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
• Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system design, and design patterns.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Track record of building secure, observable, and well-tested production systems.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, mentorship-oriented approach.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in the Central Dallas area.

• Experience in background screening, identity verification, HR tech, fintech, or another regulated, data-sensitive industry.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to consumer data: FCRA, SOC 2, CCPA, and related privacy regulations.
• Experience with asynchronous programming in Python (asyncio) and building resilient integrations (retries, circuit breakers, idempotency) against unreliable third-party services.
• Familiarity with message queues and event-driven patterns (Service Bus, Event Hubs, Kafka) and caching layers (Redis).
• Experience designing data retention, redaction, and deletion pipelines to meet legal and contractual obligations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Design and implement scalable, reliable backend services and APIs in Python that power background checks and verification workflows.
• Build and maintain integrations with dozens of third-party data sources (court records, credit bureaus, employment/education verifiers, identity providers), handling unreliable upstreams, rate limits, and inconsistent data formats gracefully,
• Architect cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure with security and data protection as first-order design constraints.
• Engineer systems that handle sensitive PII responsibly: encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, audit logging, and data retention/deletion policies.
• Help ensure systems support regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., FCRA, state and local screening laws, GDPR/CCPA, SOC
  2).
• Own services through their full lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and improvement.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for fast, safe, auditable releases.
• Optimize for accuracy, throughput, latency, and cost across distributed, integration-heavy systems.
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor mid-level and junior engineers.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and data teams to turn complex requirements into robust technical solutions.
