Akkodis is seeking an API Architect for a Contract with a client in Jersey City, NJ / Dallas, TX / Tampa, FL(Hybrid). You will lead end-to-end API modernization and migration initiatives from on-prem Apigee to AWS-native architectures.Rate Range: $49/hour to $53/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
API Architect job responsibilities include:- Lead API modernization and migration initiatives from on-prem Apigee to AWS-native architectures, including design, transformation, and deployment.
- Define API architecture standards, including proxy design, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, and REST/GraphQL patterns.
- Implement robust API security models (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, WAF) and establish governance frameworks for compliance and scalability.
- Optimize API performance for low-latency, high-throughput environments, including tuning and observability using Cloud Watch, X‑Ray, and other tools.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for API lifecycle management and automate deployments using IaC tools like Cloud Formation/Terraform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate legacy backends (SOAP, MQ, Mulesoft) into AWS-native solutions and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (master’s preferred).
- Minimum 12+ years in API design, development, and management, including large-scale migrations and performance tuning.
- Proven expertise in Apigee-to-AWS migration (API Gateway, Lambda, Cloud Front) and strong hands‑on skills with OpenAPI/Swagger, REST/GraphQL, and CI/CD for API lifecycle.
- Deep knowledge of API security (OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, WAF, rate limiting) and experience integrating legacy backends (SOAP, IBM MQ, Mulesoft/mainframe) into AWS-native, containerized architectures (Docker/Kubernetes/EKS).
Pay Details: $49.00 to $53.00 per hour.
