Location: Remote or Dallas, TX (Janta Power)

Internship – Part-Time or Full-Time (Flexible)

Janta Power is seeking a motivated Embedded Systems Intern who’s excited to learn how real embedded controllers power next-generation solar tracking systems. This internship is ideal for a student or early‑career engineer who enjoys hands‑on work, tinkering with microcontrollers, writing firmware, and understanding how hardware and software come together in the real world.

You’ll work closely with senior engineers to support firmware development, sensor integration, hardware testing, and overall system validation for our solar tracking platforms. This role offers exposure to real industrial hardware, embedded control algorithms, and field‑deployed systems.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist in developing and testing firmware for microcontroller‑based systems (ESP
    32 and similar platforms).
  • Contribute to basic firmware tasks such as device I/O handling, sensor reading, data logging, communication interfaces, and simple state‑machine logic.
  • Support integration and testing of sensors such as encoders, limit switches, current sensors, and motor‑control peripherals.
  • Help bring up development boards, evaluate prototype circuits, and perform hands‑on debugging with multimeters, logic analyzers, or scopes (training provided).
  • Participate in building or using hardware‑in‑the‑loop test setups to simulate real field conditions.
  • Write simple scripts or tools to automate testing or collect data.
  • Assist with UART/SPI/I²C/Modbus communication testing and troubleshooting.
  • Document test results, debugging steps, and small firmware improvements.
  • Collaborate with embedded, mechanical, and electrical engineers to understand how full solar tracking systems work.
  • Learn best practices for embedded development, coding standards, and hardware safety.
What We’re Looking For

You don’t need years of experience — just the right fundamentals, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

Required
  • Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or similar.
  • Basic experience with microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP
    32, STM
    32, Raspberry Pi Pico, etc.).
  • Coursework or self‑directed projects involving C, C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Familiarity with digital electronics basics (GPIO, PWM, ADCs, UART, SPI, I²C).
  • Interest in robotics, motor control, firmware, or hardware integration.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail, and a willingness to experiment and learn.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Exposure to ESP‑IDF, Rust embedded, or RTOS concepts.
  • Experience with Modbus or other communication protocols.
  • Personal projects involving sensor integration, motor drivers, or PCB design.
  • Basic understanding of signals, EMI, or hardware debugging.
  • Interest in renewable energy, control systems, or mechatronics.
What You’ll Learn
  • Real‑world embedded firmware development for solar tracking systems.
  • Working with engineers to understand system‑level architecture.
  • Developing reliable communication interfaces and testing hardware under realistic conditions.
  • Building safe, robust embedded systems used outdoors in demanding environments.
  • Professional development workflows, documentation, and best practices.
Why Join Us

At Janta Power, your work won’t sit on a shelf — you’ll contribute to technology used in real solar tracking systems deployed in the field. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Build meaningful skills in embedded systems and control electronics.
  • Work with senior engineers who value mentorship and practical learning.
  • Experiment, build, test, and iterate in a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Contribute to renewable energy innovations that directly impact system performance.

This is a hands‑on opportunity to grow your embedded skills while making a measurable impact on next‑generation solar technology. This hands on role is a perfect opportunity to learn and Janta is seeking someone who wants to combine course credit or try a Coop role. The hourly pay rate isn't high but the experience will ensure
