Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer, RDS; AWS

We are building PostgreSQL as a fully managed database service at Amazon and looking for experienced PostgreSQL engineers to help drive new features, support customers, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.

• Work closely with customers to understand challenges, resolve critical escalations, and teach best practices.
• Act as the “voice of the customer” and bring learnings to the engineering process to design new features and plan end‑to‑end test scenarios.
• Actively drive feature enhancements, permanently resolve the root causes of issues, and improve the performance of our managed database service.
• Serve as the ultimate subject matter expert for all things databases, providing guidance to the development, support, account, and customer teams.
• Interact with the open‑source community via forums, conferences, and code submissions.
• Extend knowledge to other database engines beyond PostgreSQL.

As you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture, you’ll create metrics, implement automation, and resolve the root cause of software defects.

You'll also:

• At least 10 years of experience with PostgreSQL.
• At least 5 years of operating PostgreSQL systems.
• Experience working with customers on how to best use PostgreSQL.

• Experience with other database engines.
• Passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Salary ranges vary by location: CA (East Palo Alto) $167,800–$227,000; TX (Dallas) $145,900–$197,400; WA (Redmond) $145,900–$197,400 annually.
