Overview

CGI is looking for an Android Mobile Developer to join us. This candidate will serve as a technical expert on a large-scale mobile development project with onshore and offshore team members. The Mobile Developer will work with Product Owners, Subject Matter Experts and Technical Managers to build native applications and ensure the team delivers functional, scalable, and maintainable code following established customer patterns.

This position is located five days a week in client offices in Dallas, TX and other US locations as required.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Senior Android Developer to develop and enhance features for mobile apps.
  • Create and review technical designs for real world entities/relationships/scenarios and translate them into objects in mobile software.
  • Develop source code for mobile apps using languages like Java and Kotlin.
  • Effectively use software development IDEs such as Android Studio, Eclipse and Xcode.
  • Review code from peers and respond to code review comments to ensure code quality, consistency, and adequate unit test coverage.
  • Ensure that software design patterns like MVP (Model View Presenter) and MVVM (Model View View Model) are followed to define maintainable software layers.
  • Use version control systems like Git to manage source code securely.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives and release planning.
  • Execute spike stories to research, investigate, and estimate time and resources for new features with Product Owners.
  • Highlight impediments, dependencies, and risks affecting delivery of software features.
  • Conduct trainings and guide junior developers and new team members.
  • Understand requirements and current enterprise architecture to help product owners create roadmaps for future enhancements.
  • Develop mobile application code in coordination with other team members.
  • Integrate mobile applications with centralized authentication.
  • Apply knowledge of biometric authentication and device capabilities (Camera, Phone state, Location, Notifications, Permissions management, etc.).
  • Create Software Architecture Documentation, High Level and Low Level Design documents, and nonfunctional requirements for the project.
  • Work in an Agile environment and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Be hands-on to develop or fix issues to deliver on time with high quality.
  • Collaborate with BA/QA teams to create test plans and ensure issues are identified, fixed, and tested.
  • Groom the team and develop the application with customer-centric ideas and innovation, achieving benchmarks within the organization.
  • Ensure the app code remains compliant with applicable guidelines and standards (e.g., architecture, naming conventions, accessibility).
  • Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience with mobile development.
  • 5+ years of Android development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with REST APIs and API authentication.
  • Experience with design patterns like MVVM.
  • Experience with tools like Android Studio, Gradle, Git, Postman, Firebase and Google services.
  • Working experience with API security protocols including OAuth.
  • Strong design and programming skills using layouts and Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong background with Android tech stack including libraries like Retrofit, GSON, RxJava, Kotlin coroutines, etc.
  • Knowledge of databases, data models, and CRUD operations.
  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within distributed project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    CGI provides a competitive compensation package. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $70,800.00 to $, with final compensation determined by factors such as skill, experience, training and certifications.
