Game & 3D/XR Development, Front End Developer
Professional Frostbite experience is required for this position.
About DevhouseDevhouse is a game development studio based in Dallas, Texas. We work across a wide range of game projects, platforms, and genres, bringing together design, art, engineering, production, and QA to solve problems as one team.
We’re looking for a Technical Experience Designer with professional, hands‑on experience implementing game interfaces within EA’s Frostbite engine.
This role bridges UI/UX design and engineering. The right person will combine strong visual and interaction-design judgment with the technical ability to implement, animate, script, and refine polished interfaces directly within Frostbite.
This is not a purely conceptual UX role or a general software engineering position. We’re looking for someone who can take an experience from design intent through technical implementation and final polish.
About the RoleAs a Technical Experience Designer, you’ll work closely with UX designers, UI artists, engineers, and other developers to translate designs and motion concepts into responsive, production ready game interfaces.
You’ll build interactive UI, implement motion and transitions, connect interface elements to game data, and help establish the technical structures needed to maintain a consistent experience across screens and features.
The role requires both visual judgment and technical problem solving. You should be able to understand the intent behind a design, recognize what makes an interaction feel polished, and determine how to implement that experience effectively within Frostbite’s tools and constraints.
Prior Frostbite experience is a firm requirement. Experience with Unreal, Unity, or another proprietary engine is valuable, but it is not a substitute for professional experience working within Frostbite’s UI tools and workflows.
What You’ll Do- Translate UX flows, visual designs, prototypes, and motion references into functional in‑engine experiences.
- Implement polished menus, HUD elements, overlays, navigation systems, and other game interfaces within Frostbite.
- Create UI animations, transitions, and responsive visual feedback.
- Use Frostbite’s technical scripting tools to build interface behavior, interaction states, and supporting logic.
- Connect UI elements to game data and supporting systems.
- Create reusable components and scalable implementation patterns across multiple screens and features.
- Work closely with UX designers and UI artists to preserve the intent and quality of approved designs.
- Collaborate with engineers when an experience requires new technical support or changes beyond the presentation layer.
- Prototype interactions to help the team evaluate ideas before committing to final implementation.
- Implement interfaces that support different resolutions, aspect ratios, platforms, and input methods.
- Debug issues involving layout, interaction, animation, navigation, focus, and data.
- Evaluate performance and optimize interfaces without sacrificing the intended experience.
- Participate in design and implementation reviews, providing feedback from both a visual and technical perspective.
- Document reusable components, implementation patterns, and technical decisions when useful to the team.
- Take ownership of interface features through implementation, refinement, testing, and final verification.
- Professional, hands‑on experience implementing UI within EA’s Frostbite engine.
- Experience using Frostbite’s UI tools, technical workflows, and scripting capabilities in a production environment.
- Experience taking Frostbite UI features from design intent through in engine implementation, refinement, and final verification.
- Strong technical scripting skills and experience building interactive frontend behavior.
- A strong understanding of UI implementation, including component structures, state management, data binding, and input handling.
- Experience creating polished motion, transitions, and micro‑interactions.
- The ability to translate design files, prototypes, and motion references into functional in‑engine experiences.
- A strong eye for visual hierarchy, layout, timing, feedback, and interaction quality.
- Experien…
