ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Determine safe and reliable operating condition of vehicle by inspecting vehicle before, during and after use. Log same and facilitate corrective action if needed.
- Verify vehicle is correctly loaded by checking load before and during trip. Check load integrity, secure and reposition as needed.
- Accurately deliver and document product deliveries. Identify route, verify documents, obtain maps, drive to destination and manually offload product.
- Safely operate vehicle and comply with Company policies, procedures, highway rules and federal DOT regulations.
- Maintain records including driver logs, trip records, vehicle inspection sheets, bills of lading and all other documents.
- Maintain clean vehicle by good housekeeping habits in the cab and cargo areas (e.g. pick up rope, secure poles).
- Maintain safe working environment by using all required safety equipment; abide by all safety rules and regulations.
- Contribute to a drug‑free workplace by abiding by established policies regarding use of illegal substances.
- Contribute to customer relations by professionally representing the Company including greeting customers in a friendly, courteous manner.
- Punch time clock before and after shift to record time worked.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Current CDL Class A vehicle operator’s license for state of residence. - Experience:
Two years over‑the‑road or equivalent driving experience. - Knowledge:
Safe driving record; ability to safely operate various types of Class A vehicles; knowledge of federal DOT regulations. - Mental/Physical/Visual Demands:
Must possess common sense, positive attitude, excellent attendance; quality and safety conscious team player; able to work quickly with product and lift up to 75 pounds unassisted, 87‑100 pounds with assistance, keep colors separate, record weights accurately; excellent manual dexterity; sustained concentration; good communication skills. - Working Conditions:
Deliver to retail customer and jobsite locations, cluttered with building materials, limited accessibility, overhead hazards or road conditions; variable driving times and distances; hazardous weather; extended sitting while driving; lifting and lowering from overhead position required. - Equipment/Tools Used:
Flashlight, load lock poles, tire chains, glass cups, cell phone, safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toed shoes, rope, truck ramp, vehicle, trailers and dollies. - Safety:
Safe work performance required at all times. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals. Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and immediately report unsafe working conditions.
