Position Summary
The Transportation Specialist Manager (TSM) is responsible for overseeing transportation operations, coordinating logistics activities, managing driver performance, and ensuring efficient and timely delivery services. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills to support daily transportation operations while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee daily transportation and logistics operations.
- Coordinate delivery schedules, routes, and transportation planning.
- Supervise drivers, dispatch personnel, and transportation staff.
- Monitor shipment tracking and ensure on‑time delivery performance.
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Resolve transportation issues, delays, and customer service concerns promptly.
- Analyze operational data and implement process improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and training for transportation team members.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff, vendors, and customers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
- Maintain accurate transportation records, reports, and documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, transportation cost management, and vendor negotiations.
- Ensure proper maintenance scheduling and operational readiness of company vehicles and equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and logistics operations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), Microsoft Office, and logistics software.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Experience managing transportation teams and delivery operations.
- Knowledge of route optimization and fleet management strategies.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to interpret transportation metrics and operational reports.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
- Office and field-based transportation environment.
- May require flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on operational needs.
- Occasional travel to transportation sites, warehouses, or customer locations may be required.
