Fleet Program Specialist

The Fleet Program Specialist will perform fleet operations work involving coordinating fleet operations, maintenance, Fuelman Cards & pins, inventory, and administrative functions for fleet management programs for all County departments. The work involves treating a variety of unusual conditions, problems, situations, or questions in conformance with established criteria. The Fleet Program Specialist works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

This position must exercise judgement within defined policies and procedures, consider recommendations and then determine the course of action. This position affects the economic well-being of Hays County.

Responsibilities

  • Assist departments in obtaining quotes for county owned vehicles, as well as County leased vehicles.
  • Coordinates delivery and pickup of equipment.
  • Provides oversight and guidance in all aspects of the fleet management programs.
  • Tracks year-to-date equipment rental dollars and equipment quantities; forecast year-end budget requirements.
  • Maintains a vehicle inventory for all County departments.
  • Reviews purchase orders, receipts, and vendor invoices for accuracy when needed.
  • Manages the Fuelman Credit Card account
  • Analyzes complex data related to vehicle leases.
  • Sorts and files forms, reports, correspondence, and related documents.
  • Conducts research related to specific cases and situations.
  • Coordinates with and maintains good working relationships with other agencies, county, state, and federal departments.
  • Ability to negotiate, develop, and prepare fleet agreements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires High School diploma or GED.
  • Requires two years in fleet operations work.
  • Any combination of experience or training may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Other Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid TX Class C Driver's License.
