Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves delivering and returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers, primarily moving box trucks up to 26’. Drivers with CDL Class A may also handle tractors and trailers. The position may provide assistance to the service department for parts and equipment delivery.

This casual/on-call part-time driving job is suitable for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income, working 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs. Availability is required during daytime weekday hours and occasionally on weekends.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving to Penske or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; report issues to the location manager.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• Minimum 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL required; CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Independent work ability, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency to comply with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance required.
• Compliance with DOT regulations including maintaining a current driver qualification file.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, adhere to the required schedule, and complete background investigation and drug screening.

• Must be able to see and hear, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
• Must regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit vehicle and rear cargo area.
