Job Description
Position InformationThe TxDOT Dallas District is looking for a driven individual to join the team as the District Environmental Section Supervisor. This position will oversee the District's Advance Planning efforts as they relate to environmental coordination. This includes tasks such as all efforts supporting the federal NEPA (National Environmental Protection Act), such as biologic explorations, historic evaluations, noise analysis, archaeological review and many more.
In addition, the position will oversee coordination efforts with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) regarding the 25-Year Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). This exciting position has a direct impact on every project that the District delivers.

Oversees the development of transportation planning functions in a metropolitan district. Reports to the Director of Transportation Planning and Development, Deputy District Engineer, District Engineer. Manages a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees engaged in transportation planning activities. Work requires contact with governmental officials.
- Coordinates with staff engineers regarding planning operations as they relate to administration, programming, design,
construction, right of way and maintenance. - Oversees data collection, analyses, forecasts and plan development.
- Oversees long-range and short-range transportation planning and coordinates with Regional Mobility Authorities/Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) to develop the annual Transportation Improvement Program and Metropolitan Plan
- Provides technical direction for the development and execution of transportation analysis or planning research.
- Recommends transportation planning and development training needs.
- Represents the district at various meetings and public hearings.
- Responsible for the advanced transportation planning program in a district.
- Serves as liaison between the Federal Highway Administration and MPOs on matters impacting urban transportation planning programs.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Transportation planning, public transportation, engineering. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in d Transportation planning. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
- Must have three (3) years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
