Transportation Dispatcher (226 Days) - ( RTP )

Description
  • Ensures routes/trips are covered/assigned based on the trip bidding process.
  • Monitor field trips in the system and conduct trip bidding
  • Dispatches transportation vehicles for trips and other special events.
  • Responsible for the distribution of keys and radios.
  • Answer phone and two-way radio calls; respond to routine requests or emergency situations.
  • Communicates with outside organizations, local police and others as appropriate; receive requests, questions, concerns and suggestions and provide routine information and assistance or route to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain current knowledge of routes and school locations to assure timely services and accurate information.
  • Reviews bus routes and/or trips for efficiency and effectiveness and communicates with management of recommendations.
  • Ensures and verifies all clock times and payroll for drivers and monitors are accurate and reports are completed for assigned drivers of trips.
  • Collect bus maintenance request forms from drivers.
  • Assists in the distribution and collection of route/bid or trip sheets; ensures student counts are completed.
  • Reviews and understands the transportation guidelines and procedures to ensure consistency in decisions and actions.
  • Demonstrates success in resolving conflict consistently and appropriately.
  • Foster good relations with campuses, teachers and parents.
  • Present oneself as a role model for employees with regards to proper attire, grooming standards and positive attitude.
  • Must also be able to write correspondence and effectively present information.
  • Analyze problems and offer multiple solutions as needed.
  • Maintain and provide required reports to the transportation administration team
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Required/Preferred Education Level Field of Study/Concentration
    • Required High School Diploma or GED
    • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Required/Preferred License/Certification (use text field to specify)
  • Other Licenses/Certifications
    • Required
      - Valid Texas Commercial
    • Driver’s License (Class A or

      B) with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements
    • Experience Required/Preferred Experience Ranges Type of Experience Additional Details
    • Required
      - Entry Level Direct One (1) of experience - as a dispatcher in a transportation or related field required
    • Preferred- 2+ Three (3) years
