Job Purpose

The Material Handler at Goodwill Industries of Dallas Inc will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission by efficiently managing the flow of materials within the facility. This position is integral to ensuring that donated goods are sorted, stored, and distributed effectively to support the charitable activities of the organization. The Material Handler will contribute to the smooth operation of the facility, helping to maximize the impact of donations and support community programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, sort, and organize incoming donated materials to ensure efficient processing and storage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist in tracking the movement of goods within the facility.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and effective distribution of materials to various departments and outlets.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards and protocols.
  • Support the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring the secure and proper handling of goods.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to address any issues or concerns related to material handling.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to material handling and safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • Required

    Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required Experience:
    • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is preferred.
    • Experience with inventory management systems is a plus.
    • Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols in a warehouse setting.
  • Required

    Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Physical stamina to lift and move heavy objects.
    • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
